Escondido is run by a small group of men and women. They are called the City Council. The people of Escondido decide who will be on the City Council. They do this by voting for them every four years. If the voters don't like the way the Council Members are helping Escondido, then they don't vote for them again.

The City Council is made up of four council members and one mayor. Their job is to make local laws and plan for the future. To make sure that the laws and plans are being followed, the City Council hires a City Manager.
